Aunt Minnie's Butter & Nut Cake

My Story

This is a multigenerational recipe handed down from the deep south. The Vanilla, Butter & Nut flavoring from Superior Products Company is critical to this recipe. The mouthwatering smell of this in the oven brings back fond memories of my great- grandma who would often tell funny stories about her sister Minnie while this was baking in the oven.

Recipe

Total Preparation Time: 30 minutes

Total Cooking Time: 60 minutes


Ingredients

1 cup + 2 Tbsp. Butter

2 cups Sugar

1 cup Whole milk

2 cups Plain flour

1 cup Self rising flour

4 Eggs

1 Tbsp. Superior Vanilla Butter & Nut flavoring*

1 Tbsp. Vanilla

Method

  1. Cream butter and sugar using a mixer, add eggs one at a time, beating at least 2 to 3 minutes after each egg.

  2. Sift flours together until finely blended, at least 3 times.

  3. Add 1 cup flour to butter, sugar, and egg mixture followed by ½ cup milk, beat well.

  4. Add remaining 2 cups flour and ½ cup milk to mixture, beat well.

  5. Add Vanilla Butter & Nut flavoring and vanilla, beat well

  6. Bake in a well-greased and floured bunt pan at 325 degrees F for 1 hour

  7. Remove from oven, cool.

Tips: Dust with powdered sugar for a more finished look.
