My Story
My familia makes this salad/side dish anytime we have a bbq! I call it Mexican Slaw because it is made with cabbage and includes typical items founds in Mexican cuisine including cilantro, tomatoes, limes, avocado and jalapenos. The slaw can be served on top of tacos or alongside some tasty carne asada and salsa, and also serves as a cooling side dish to offset any spicy items. It is refreshing, healthy and delicious!
Recipe
Prep time: 15 mins
½ a cabbage, shredded
1/2 red onion, diced
2 avocados, diced
1 tomato, diced
1 cucumber, diced
1-2 jalapenos, diced (can use fresh or pickled, can also omit for kids or add more to increase spice)
2 handful of cilantro, chopped
juice of 2-3 limes or lemons (depends on taste)
salt & pepper to taste
In a large bowl, combine all ingredient together and gently mix. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
